Raymond Weil History
A fairly new brand to the world of watch making, Raymond Weil has only been in the industry since 1976. But this brand has been a leader in the watch world due to their innovative designs; their goal was to produce watches with a novel design and concept. The collections draw their inspirations from Raymond Weil’s passion for the arts, opera and classical music such as the Othello Collection, the Don Giovanni Collection and the Parsifal Collection. Son-in-law Olivier Bernheim joined the family business in 1982 and has been instrumental in growing the company; he is now president and CEO. In 1983 the brand launched the Amadeus Collection, named after the Austrian composer Mozart which was released at the same time the Milos Forman’s film did. In 1985 the Fidelio, named after Beethoven’s only opera, showed elegance in stainless steel and polished gold plated finishes with Roman numerals and pearls on
the dial indicating the hour. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the company the Othello Collection was launched blending avant-garde with refined design. In 1988 the Traviata watch debuted. The Parsifal Collection was released in 1991, it is a refined collection made from 18 carat gold and stainless steel. In the 1980’s and 1990’s, Raymond Weil grew to be one of Switzerland’s most influential watch companies. Celebrating 30 years in the industry, Raymond Weil welcomes the third generation, Pierre and Elie Bernheim to keep the family legacy strong.
